Beta Club is a program that runs from 4th to 12th grade, and is committed to promoting academic excellence and creating new leaders in today’s school system. Beta club encourages young students to take initiative in their schools and motivates them to volunteer their time outside of school
“Students should join Beta club because it is an academic and service club. It’s for community service, but is a national club as well. Colleges recognize it across [not just] the country, but in other countries as well, so it’s a good club to be in,” said advisor Ms. Christy Parker.
Beta club has 4 pillars/goals that it strives to achieve. The first of these pillars is achievement, which is described by Beta Club as “results gained by effort”.
Students must have a 3.5 GPA, meaning students who wish to participate must be averaging an 87-89 final grade in all their classes. However, Beta club expects their students to strive past this mark, and push to be the best they possibly can be.
The next pillar of Beta Club is character. How the club expects their members to behave socially. Beta club members are expected to be honest, responsible, and humble as they maneuver through the hallways of Cape Fear and on the way to their goals.
The third pillar is leadership. Beta club understands that one day students will be the leaders of society. As an organization they want to inspire young students to step out as leaders, and put their skills to the test by demonstrating effective planning and communication skills.
Finally, Beta club requires service. Beta clubs motto is “Let us lead, by serving others.” Beta Club believes that it is your duty to aid your community, and that all young students should participate in it. Beta Club requires 50 service hours per year.
“Beta Club is by invitation only. Letters will go out by September 11th, and our first meeting will be October 11th. It is for all grade levels, and letters will be sent out to all who are eligible,” said Parker.
We are so excited for Beta club to start this year! For those interested please reach out to Ms. Christy Parker, our Beta Club coordinator.
