Tuesday evening your Lady Colt Volleyball team took on the Jack Britt Buccaneers, looking to take their fourth United 8 Conference win. The Colts were able to secure the win in a tight game, winning 3-1. The win bumped the Colts to 9-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play. 

After a thrilling 2-1 win from the Lady Colts Junior Varsity team, the Varsity game kicked off at 6pm. The Colts got off to a quick start, taking care of business in the first set winning 25-15.

The second gave the Colts a hard time with them losing a hard fought second set 26-24.

“Overall I think we could have played better as a whole, but I think it’s great that we came back from losing a set and kept a  positive mindset and were still able to pull out the win in the end,” said senior Laney Talley. 

The third and fourth set went to the Lady Colts with them winning 25-20 and 29-27.

Defensive plays from Seniors Payton Gunter and Addie Hudson helped the Colts keep the ball alive and pull out the win. 

This thrilling victory keeps the Colts in the lead of the U8 Conference as they aim to win the conference title for the 2nd year in a row.

Wednesday, September 13th, the Lady Colts took on the Midway Raiders at home for another tough match. The Colts came out on top with a 3-1 victory, making sure to keep their undefeated record alive.

The Colts dominated the first set winning 25-14 against the Raiders.

Kills from seniors Brooke Bombatepe, Olivia Melvin, Laney Talley, and Sophomore Tabatha Newlin helped keep the Colts in the driver’s seat the whole first set. 

The second set was similar to the previous night’s match, with the Raiders barely edging out a 25-23 win. The Colts stayed calm though, taking the third set with a score of 27-25 after coming back from a deficit of multiple points to win the set.

The fourth set came much easier to the Lady Colts with them winning 25-18, taking home their 10 win in a row.

To round out another three game week, the Colts took on the South View Tigers for another home game. The game kicked off at 6pm, with the Colts making quick work of the Tigers in the first set with a score of 25-6. 

Blocks from Seniors Lilly Rayburn and Illyanna Johnson helped the Colts defeat the Tigers. 

The second and third sets followed suit with scores of 25-11 and 25-18, giving the Colts another conference win. They are now 5-0 in conference and 11-0 overall, remaining undefeated after another tough week. 

Assists from senior setters Brooke Bombatepe and Larkin Baxley helped set up the Colts for the victory. 

Make sure to stay tuned as the Colts travel to Hope Mills to take on the Grays Creek Bears! It will be a great game so make sure you come support your Lady Colts. The game will begin at 6pm on Tuesday, September 19th!
