The Lady Colts Volleyball team played three matches this week, first taking on the Purnell Swett Rams at home for a quick 3-0 victory. This win put the Lady Colts at a 13-1 record over and 7-1 record in the conference.
After a quick 2-0 win from the Lady Colts Junior Varsity team, the Varsity game began at 6pm. The Colts got off to a quick start, taking care of business in the first set, easily winning by a score of 25-11.
The second set also came easy to the Colts, as they won 25-13. Seniors Illyanna Johnson and Lilly Rayburn helped out the Colts defense with their blocking, tallying up — blocks combined.
The third and final set of the match ended with a score of 25-12, securing the win for the Colts.
On Wednesday, September 27th, the Colts traveled to Robeson County to take on the Rams once again in a back to back matchup. They took another win, putting their overall record at 14-1 and 8-1 in the conference.
The first set went by smoothly with the Lady Colts winning by a score of 25-13.
Kills from Seniors Olivia Melvin, Brooke Bombatepe, Laney Talley, Larkin Baxley, and Sophomore Tabitha Newlin helped lead the Colts to their victory over the Lady Rams.
The second and third sets came just as easy as the first, with the Colts winning by a score of 25-6 and 25-8.
Digs from Seniors Payton Gunter, Addie Hudson, and Alanna Sanchez, along with Juniors Abi Royal, Claudia McDaniel, and Olivia Adams helped keep the ball alive and lead to the Colts victory.
“Keeping our energy up and having a positive mindset makes us the team that we are on and off the court, giving us the ability to achieve such wins as these,” says Senior Laney Talley.
To finish off the week for the Colts, the ladies took on the Seventy-First Falcons at home Thursday, for their 9th conference win and their 15th win overall.
The match kicked off at 6pm following the swift 2-0 victory from the Junior Varsity Team.
The match was over in 3 sets with your Lady Colts winning all three. The first set ended 25-11.
The second and third sets ended with scores of 25-15 and 25-7, making the Colts 3-0 for the week.
It’s been a successful season so far for the Colts. Here’s to more wins and a shot at a conference title!
