Last week, the ladies in Blue and Gold took down Green Level High School 49-34 to secure their first win of the season.

“Always good to get a win; I wanted to see more execution on offense and defense.  Still a good start to the season,” said Head Coach Brian Graham after the game.

The girls had an amazing offensive showing with Jayda Angel bagging 20 points. Anijah Jones and Teralyn Harris both hit the ground running with 10 points. Other scorers were Sydney Britt, Keyana Gage, and Elizabeth Kirkland with 2 points apiece. Kaiya Starling also hit some key 3 pointers helping contribute to their 49 points overall.

“I feel great knowing that I can be effective on offense and defense, I’ll do anything to contribute to my team’s success,” said Senior Teralyn Harris looking back on the game.

The girls also snagged nearly 40 rebounds as well. Both Kirkland and Harris had nine rebounds. Angel had eight, Starling had five, and both Jones and Britt had four apiece.

“I think the team needs to improve this season by communicating better with each other; that’s the main focus right now,” said Senior Anijah Jones.

Overall the team feels that they are extremely talented but just need to make some adjustments as they get deeper into the season. We have every confidence that the girls are moving in the right direction.

Their next game will be on Friday December 8th against Red Springs High School at Red Springs. Come out and support your Lady Colts!
