The Colts traveled to Douglas Byrd on Tuesday night to face off against the Douglas Byrd Eagles, scavenging to put themselves back in the win column.

The Colts came into the game with the expectation of a conference win and they did just that, executing their offense and playing tough defense enroute to a 41 point win over the Eagles. Mekhai Coleman ended with 17 points and 9 rebounds on the night, serving as a heavy hitter in the Colts victory.

“I feel as if we are still in the building, and I feel like at the end of the day, this was one of the games where we couldn’t take them for granted but at the same time we just had to work on ourselves,” said Coleman.

As expected, the Colts performed exceedingly well in the first and second quarter and came out with amazing energy, holding Byrd on defense with the help of Damien Gary snatching 5 steals.

The Colts started the second half of the game strong as well, keeping the lead and scoring even more. With the help of Sophomore Geronimo Sanchez, who played an important role, Cape Fear maintained the lead. Sanchez dominated the boards with 12 rebounds.

“It boils down to just execution, rebounding the ball, and getting back on defense,” said Colts head coach Kee.

The win put the Colts at 5-6 in the United8 and 8-11 overall, good for 5th in the conference.

Hopefully the Colts will be able to keep this momentum with the game on Wednesday against the Golden Tornadoes.
