The Colts Baseball team played their first scrimmages last Saturday, February 17th. The team started off strong, winning their first scrimmage 5-1 against Green Hope High School. Next, they took on a very challenging team in Grace Christian from Sanford. The Colts were extremely competitive but ultimately lost 2-1.
Seniors Lucca Pascarella (catcher), Mason Hughes (Short stop), and Ethan Plesser (Pitcher) performed very well on Saturday and look to have a successful senior campaign. The team consists of many veterans who are experienced on the field, which makes the team much more likely to be successful in the 2024 season.
“I’m really looking forward to this season. I hopepe we make Conference Champs again,” said Mason Hughes.
“The team performed really solid this past Saturday and we are looking forward to this upcoming Saturday,” said Lucca Pascarella.
Ethan Plesser pitched 3 impressive innings against Grace Christian Saturday at the scrimmage. Plesser is known for his controlled throws and his amazing performance on the field.
“Our team is already looking strong and definitely improving from last year,” said Plesser.
A new addition to the team, Landon Underwood, the only freshman on the field, is prepared to play to his strongest ability and get even stronger as the season goes on. Playing in between left field and right field.
“Playing on Varsity as a freshman is very different from Middle school, the game is more exciting,” said Underwood.
Coach Britt, entering his 5th season as the head baseball coach, hopes to build on last season’s success where the Colts finished 12-2 en route to a U8 Conference Title.
“We have a lot of talent throughout our freshman class but Landon Underwood stood out with his talented skills and dedication,” said Coach Britt.
The boys have a long season worth of hard work and dedication in order to compete for another Conference Title and a deep playoff run. Last Saturday was just the start.
