Miss Cape Fear is a High School pageant where young women dress to impress, and compete as contestants. The contest emphasizes public speaking, personality, etiquette and how they present themselves. The Miss Cape Fear pageant is an opportunity for girls to be out in the spotlight. The contestants are diverse in both looks and experience; some have competed in several pageants and have had more years of experience while others are new to pageants.

Cape Fear teacher Kelly Osornio is helping organize and run this year’s pageant. She is extremely excited for this year’s run, and is looking forward to meeting all of the contestants.

‘’The committee is looking for a confident and poised high schooler that can represent the school and encompass the legacy of the pageant. Many of the contestants go on to compete in local and state pageants such as Miss North Carolina,” said Mrs. Osornio.

The Miss Cape Fear pageant will be held February 24, 2024 at 7pm.

‘’The Miss Cape Fear pageant contestants and winners are given the opportunity to gain confidence, learn valuable interviewing skills, public speaking skills, work on stage presence, and gain new friendships,” said Mrs. Osornio.

The Miss Cape Fear pageant gives girls the chance to experience something fun and promising it gets young women out of their comfort zone. The pageant shows girls the aspect of being in the spotlight and dealing with the emotions associated with being on stage and creating self confidence in the contestants.

‘’As a matter of fact, one of the previous Miss Cape Fear winners, Brooke Mclaurin, was Miss North Carolina in 2005. The Miss Cape Fear pageant has been running since 1970 with a new winner every single year with the exception of 2021 due to the pandemic,” said Mrs.Orsornio.
