The Cape Fear Varsity Girls Lacrosse team has seen an influx of new talent, and they are looking to use that talent to create success for their fledgling program.
The Cape Fear Girls Varsity Lacrosse team started off their new season with two tough losses. On March 8th they played away at Union Pines, where they lost 29-3, with Katie Martin scoring all 3 goals.
Last night, they took the field again for the first home match of the season against Pinecrest High School. Cape Fear fought hard but lost 14-4, with Katie Martin scoring all 4 goals.
“Our team has gotten a lot stronger than last year, we are working better as a team by communicating and working together on the field,” said Martin
Last year Cape Fear lost to Pinecrest 27-0. The team has made massive improvements since last season, but still wants to get better.
The Colts are preparing to take on Jack Britt on Thursday March 14, and hope to pick up their first conference win.
“For our upcoming game on Thursday I am so excited to play Jack Britt because they are one of our biggest competitors. I think we still need to work on passing the ball upfield and having more endurance throughout the whole game,” said Martin
These losses are showing the girls what they need to work on and teaching them more and more about the game of lacrosse. They are persevering through a loss to play better for the next game.
