Last Thursday, The Colts had their second home game of the season against the Jack Britt Buccaneers. They fought hard and made a statement with a score of 16-1.

MVP attackman Brannon Quinton scored a hat trick in the first quarter, with the help of Junior Captain Jack Donatelle and midfielder Tyveon Brock setting up the plays and leading assists.

Jack Donatelle also had 2 goals in the first quarter, and the Colts led 5-1 at the end of the first.

Coming back in the second quarter, The Colts were determined to drive Jack Britt out. The Colts continued to widen the gap while the Buccaneers could only muster 1 point.

“This game has definitely been a big boost in morale, we were due a win and we fought for it. If we keep working, I’m positive our season will be great,” said Quinton after the game.

By the end of the second the score was 9-1, with the Colts in the lead at the half.

Alexander Bridges caused 7 turnovers in the half, and 6 ground balls. With the help of “Brick wall” goalie Evan Smith, defense was able to hold it down until the end of the half.

“I’m grateful for a defense that listens to me, as captain it makes my job easier but it benefits us on the field again. This year our dynamic and overall synergy gives us an advantage, I feel as if we all talk and work together as one,” said Goalie Evan Smith.

After a solid first half, Cape Fear picked up right where they left off in the third. With a new game plan from Head Coach Donatelle to continue shutting down the Bucs. The Defense was up to the task, keeping their momentum and keeping Jack Britt out of the net. They held the score 12-1 by the end of the third. Evan Smith had 16 saves, giving the offense more time to execute. Tyveon Brock scored another 2 goals, Donatelle with another 3. Mason Autry added to the scoring with his first career goal.

“I’m seeing a lot of improvement, especially with the new guys. There has been a lot of heart and hustle mostly thanks to our coach who has done an amazing job teaching the game. I’m sure this team will continue to grow and spread awareness to our sport,” said defender Alexander Bridges.

The Colts are now looking ahead to a rivalry game with Terry Sanford on April 8th in their next conference game.
