The Cape Fear Girls Varsity Lacrosse team played 3 conference games, the Pinecrest Patriots on Monday, the Union Pine Vikings on Wednesday, and the Jack Britt Buccaneers on Thursday.
Cape Fear was defeated in all three games, but they are looking to make the needed improvements to finish the season strong.
On Monday The Colts took on the Patriots in an away game conference matchup. The Colts were unable to come away with the win, The Colts managed to score one goal, led by Junior Katie Martin. The Pinecrest Patriots marched away with a score of 18-1.
“These past games have been tough but we’ve learned a lot from them. We did well in the first half. Defense was great as well as attack,” said Junior Captain Katie Martin. “However, we need to work on our endurance to keep up the pressure towards the end. Overall, these past games have been great and we are continuing to grow from them!”
The Colts then went to take on the Union Pines Vikings. The Colts hoped to take revenge over the Vikings after an early season loss. The Colts were once again unable to secure the victory. The Colts finished the game 19-1.
Finally, the Colts took on Jack Britt for the second time, looking to secure another win over the Buccaneeers.
The game was hard fought with both teams going back and forth with shots. In the final minutes of the fourth quarter the Buccaneers were able to get back to back goals with 27 seconds left on the clock.
The Colts tried their hardest, but were unable to respond in time, allowing the Bucs to take their revenge and walk away.
The Colts are working harder and harder to make the needed improvements as they seek to win another game this season.
The Ladies final game will be at home on Monday against Terry Sanford for senior night. Come out and support your lady Colts!
