It’s the start of the new school year which means it’s time to recognize the amazing teachers at Cape Fear! Our very first teacher of the week for the 2024-2025 school year is Mrs. Hollie Meininger! Mrs. Meininger teaches Entrepreneurship 1 and 2. She has been teaching for 6 years with this being her 2nd year teaching at Cape Fear.
Before teaching in Colt Country, Mrs. Meininger taught on the other side of the river at Douglas Byrd and South View, for two years each. Mrs. Meininger loves being able to teach the next generation of entrepreneurs how to showcase and grow their creativity to use after graduating from high school as they go into their next endeavors!
Growing up in the heart of Sampson County, Mrs. Meininger attended Midway High School where she graduated in 2003. After high school she attended Campbell University, where she graduated with an undergraduate degree in pharmacy. During her time in undergrad ,she worked at a pharmacy before graduating in 2007. A few years later Mrs. Meininger then went back to school for her masters at Gardner-Webb University where she graduated in 2015.
Even while going to school to be a pharmacist she always knew deep down that she wanted to be a teacher. She originally thought that she would be a math teacher but ended up teaching entrepreneurship! After teaching entrepreneurship for 4 years she took a slight break and ventured out into the world of finance and insurance before deciding to come and teach at CF!
Mrs. Meininger said that one of her favorite parts about being a teacher is “the creativity of being a teacher and sharing that with my students.”
Mrs. Meininger is a fan favorite around Cape Fear. When asking any of her students what they love about her most they all have similar answers, they describe her as a compassionate, caring teacher who wants to see her students succeed.
“My favorite thing about Mrs. Meininger as a teacher is her ability to be serious and direct when necessary, while also being like a friend to her students. She doesn’t just constantly teach, she also takes the time to talk to her students and form relationships with them,” said former student Lillian Dudley.
Mrs. Meininger loves spending time around her family. She has been married for 12 years to Mr. Meininger who also teaches here at Cape Fear. She has 1 daughter, Olivia, who is 10 years old. She has 3 different pets in her household, two kittens named Frankie and Caeser, and a golden retriever named Oliver.
When not in the school building, Mrs. Meininger is her daughter’s Muber (mom uber) taking her to all the places she needs to be. Her daughter is a dancer and Mrs. Meininger loves going to all of her dance competitions and supporting her team. Mrs. Meininger truly is the ultimate dance mom, coming prepared to every competition with tons of snacks for the team to enjoy!
When not traveling all over the state of North Carolina for dance competitions she enjoys tapping into her creative side and making different creations on her cricket!
Over the past two years, Mrs. Meininger has brought so much positivity not only to the students that she has taught, but the school as a whole. She wants to see her students succeed and continuously pushes them to grow their creativity both in and outside of the classroom which is why she was chosen to be Cape Fear’s very first teacher of the week for the 2024-2025 school year!
