In their final non-conference match of the young season, The Boys Soccer team took on Hoke County in one more tune-up game before United 8 Conference play begins. The Colt defense was solid, shutting out the Bucks, while the offense gained some traction, scoring three goals. Cape Fear won convincingly 3-0.

CF led 2-0 at the half, thanks to some big time play from the veteran roster. Senior Goalkeeper Tyler Eavenson opened the scoring on a penalty kick, Aiden Chestnutt was able to tickle the net after a great through ball from Jaxon Davis.

Junior Fullback Cameron Trumbull finished the scoring in the second half after an assist from Gage Mosley.

“We came out ready to play and we did very well, our defense stepped up big.  I hope that the season gets better and our team grows stronger,” said Eavenson.

“I thought our team played well defensively. We won a lot of 50/50 balls and created transition opportunities off that. We are still trying to find consistency in our offense. Gavin Gamble, Ryan Fisher, Brannon Quinton, Zack Beal, and Aiden Hale did a great job stifling Hoke County’s attack and preserving the shutout. Tyler Eavenson did a great job anchoring our defense with great communication & organizing our back line, ” said Coach Pagan.

Overall, the Colts are now 3-2-1 and are riding a two game winning streak. The Colts will have their next conference game as they travel to Lumberton (1-3-1) on Tuesday at 7:00, then again on Wednesday at home against Purnell Swett.

We are so impressed with our players and can’t wait to see what goals and accomplishments they make this season!
