Diving into the word and worshiping the Lord, Colts for Christ has hit the ground running for the 24-25 school year!

Colts for Christ is a student-led organization that is aimed to be a safe space for all students. They meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:55am. Colts 4 Christ is a fairly new organization that started last year. CFC started off as FCA, which is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes but then changed to Colts for Christ to be more welcoming to all students interested, not just athletes.

“I started a group at Pine Forest before I left and was involved in FCA when I was in High school,” Coach Britt reflected.

The success of the organization led him to be called to start a group here at Cape Fear.

The organization has started off the year great, with over 60 students at the flagpole prayer. Britt has some goals for Colts 4 Christ this year.

“Just grow the group as much as possible and get involved around the school,” he said.

Due to such an increase in attendance at the first meeting this past Tuesday, the club had to change locations. Instead of meeting in Mrs. Bullard’s room, everyone had to go to the outside amphitheater to have more seating.

Brandon Simpson and Brianna Keen have helped take the lead in Colts 4 Christ. They have played a major role in growing the organization and inviting others to join.

“Meetings are a safe space to explore your faith and find a way to Praise God through the ups and downs,” said Simpson.

In the future, CFC is looking to be involved around campus and even host a Fields of Faith, which is a student testimonial night. Fields of Faith invites students from other schools and not just Cape Fear students. Colts 4 Christ is also looking to help with cleaning up Saturday mornings after home football games as well as having a devotion.

Other staff members are starting to get involved and help out when Britt can’t be there. Coach Andrade and Coach Hall have recently started helping out. Mrs. Bullard also offered her classroom as a meeting place and stepped in for Britt.

“I think it’s important because kids who are looking for a reason to come back to christ or can, or kids who don’t have a way to church can experience a little bit of that,” said member Lina Dozier.

Brianna Keen led the first meeting Tuesday, about being lukewarm and not fully living life for the Lord like Christains are called to do. She spoke from Romans 10:14-15 and Revelation 3:16.

“We’ve definitely seen an influx of students eager to hear the good news,” said Keen. “It’s really great to see young people from many walks of life gathering together to learn about Jesus.”

Brandon Simpson led Thursday morning and spoke about God’s grace and your heart.

“No matter how many mistakes you make, you’re never too far from God,” said Simpson.

At the morning meeting, we had the opportunity to discuss with our peers on what we need to improve on throughout the school year or past experiences where we have fallen short in our faith and how we were able to overcome them.
