After a tough showing in their home opener at Baywood last week, the Lady Colts showed major improvements in their match on Monday at Pinecrest Country Club.

The girls shot a 310 as a team, tying with Jack Britt. This was good enough for third place in the match.

The Colts’ best scorers were Emily Harris with a 101, Caroline Hales, who shot a 103, and Abby Mckenzie with a 104 led the Colts to their 3rd place finish. For the second week in a row, Harris is the Colts’ best scorer.

“I am really proud of the team we did really well compared to our last match. Even though I shot my best I will continue to improve day by day. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard,” said McKenzie.

Abbey Bullard, AbbiKate Daughtry, and Saylor Drose also played the Pinecrest match and factored in as major contributors to the Colts’ improvement.

“Our goal was to finish third or better. We tied for third; we need to be one stroke better. Caroline Hales shot a personal best round yesterday (103). I’m proud of how Emily Harris played through back pain yesterday to shoot a 101. We are working to improve every day. Our goal is to move up one place each week,”said Coach Edge.

“Shooting my personal best shows that all the dedication and hard work I’ve put into golf finally paid off. It’s rewarding to see improvement and it encourages me to keep working hard to lower my score,” reflected Hales.

The Colts will have their next match at Gates Four Golf Course next week on Monday September 16th. Good Luck Ladies!
