CFNN Reporters: Brianna Keen and Allie Dawson

This week, the Lady Colts tennis team battled the Overhills Jaguars, but also the weather. Both the Monday and Thursday matches were canceled due to storms. However, the one match the ladies played, they dominated.

On Wednesday, the Colts took on the Overhills Jaguars, winning 9-0. Due to nearby storms, the girls played a pro-set to eight in singles. Shea Bieniek (sr) made quick work of her opponent, winning 8-1. Andi Brinker (sr) battled and pulled out the victory 8-4. Brianna Keen (sr) and Dani Fick (jr) both dominated with 8-0 scores. Olivia Arnette (sr) held her own on the fifth court, winning 8-2. “It was a good match, I just couldn’t let the heat get to me.” says Olivia. Sophia Bullard (jr) won her match 8-0.

As for doubles, Bieniek and Brinker volleyed their way to an 8-2 victory. On court two doubles, Keen and Arnette started off a bit rocky but focused up and won 8-3. Fick and Bullard sat out on court three, giving Alissa Fulghum (so) and Ezra Pajailla (fr) a shot.

“Overall, I think I did pretty well. Teamwork and putting our heads together was the main strategy to win. Ezra and I communicated well, and that was also another way to achieve the win in a mannerly fashion.” says Alissa. The girls took their opportunity and ran with it, winning 8-1. Great job ladies!

Next week, the ladies will take on Douglas Byrd, Purnell Swett, and Jack Britt. Come on out and support your ladies tennis team this fall!
