On Monday, October 7th, the Lady Colts Golf team was back in action at Pinecrest Country Club. The team scored a 302, which was good enough for 3rd place overall.

The top three scores from Monday’s match at Pinecrest were Caroline Hales, who shot a personal best 93, Saylor Drose with a 100, and Abby McKenzie, who shot a 103.

On Wednesday, the Colts had a makeup match at Gates Four. The Colts brought their A game to the match, scoring a 299, beating Gray’s Creek to earn a 2nd place finish.

The lowest scores for the Colts were a 97 for Emily Harris and Saylor Drose, and 105 for Abbey Bullard. These scores were enough to push the Colts up a notch into second place for the second time this season.

“Gates Four is definitely not an easy course, but it’s definitely the nicest course I have played at so far. I didn’t play terribly, but I didn’t play to my best potential. My fairway shots were acceptable, though, which definitely helped my score,” said Harris.

Knowing that the Colts have had a tough time keeping pace with Gray’s Creek this season, the team felt great about their success and the hard work they have put in at practice. The goal every week is to improve on at least one thing that helps the team score lower in match play.

“Definitely our best finish this season, and it proved that as we keep working, we’re closing in on that first place; I’m proud of our girls this season, as we continue to get better and better each match,” said Edge.

The Lady Colts have definitely come a long way this season; they are all pushing themselves to get better. The work is showing as they shave numbers off the score in every new match.

The Colts played their next match on Monday, October 14th, at Gates Four Country Club, which rounded out the regular season for the team.

The Colts scored a 293 as a team which was once again good for 2nd place overall. The girls were only four strokes away from a tie for 1st place with match winner Purnell Swett.

Emily Harris was awarded 1st Team All-Conference honors, while Saylor Drose earned 2nd Team All-Conference.

The top three scores from Monday’s match were Caroline Hales shooting a 94 Saylor Drose with a personal record 98, and Holli Bunts, who shot a 99.

“With the conference wrapping up, I am glad I broke 100 to end the season off.  I was getting frustrated with myself toward the start of the match and had some tough putts, but my coaches and parents helped me pick myself back up and get back on the game,” said Drose after the match.

To sum up the Colts’ regular season, the girls averaged 2,127 total

“The last match of the season we played up to our expectations at the beginning of the season, placing second behind Purnell Swett by four strokes. We played well as a team the last two matches. We had a lot of new faces this season on our team so everyone has shot personal best rounds. Postseason play begins October 24 with the 3A East regional. Our goal is to have a qualifier for the state championship,” said Coach Edge.

Personal Best Rounds: Emily Harris 93, Saylor Drose 94, Caroline Hales 98, Holli Bunce 99, Abbey Bullard 101.

Abigail McKenzie 103, Ana Warchal 105, Nadia Thompson and Tillie Cooper with both a 109, AbbiKate Daughtry 111, Clara Egan 113 and lastly Natalie Wood 120.

Great way to end the regular season Ladies!
