This week is a big week for club news, with the Student Government Association (SGA) starting off their homecoming spirit week, new Beta Club officers, and DECA Pie-in-the-Face.

First off, SGA freshman class election results are in, with the winners being: president-Vander Strickland, vice president-Brant Freeman, secretary-Arrianna Gamble, and spirit liaison-Gavin Luchetta. 

“My goals as president are to basically help out to where kids can have a fun year but at the same time get their work done,” said president Vander Strickland. 

Vice-president, Brant Freeman said “I am going to make the school a place where people want to be.” Make sure to congratulate them if you pass by!

Furthermore, SGA hosted the homecoming dance on October 5th. The theme was City of Stars, with junior and senior SGA members setting up and freshman and sophomore SGA members cleaning up. SGA is also doing a spirit week this week. 

The themes include: Monday-Dress to Unimpress or Rockstar day, Tuesday-Biker vs. Surfer day, Wednesday-Dynamic Duo or Holiday, Thursday- Jersey vs. Jersey Shore, and lastly, Friday-Blue and Gold. Also, SGA’s first official meeting will be held in room 206 on Thursday, October 10th and ran by Amy Fennell. Next up, Cape Fear DECA is gearing up for regional competitions so make sure to check your emails if you are a member and fill out the google form sent to you. VP of competition, Ashton Horne has sent out an email containing all competition practice dates. 

Also, the results from DECA’s pink out spirit week that was held September 30th-October 4th are in! The winners include: Nasir Brown, Natalie Wood, and Robbie Wright for Barbie/Ken, Josiah Cruz, Jamelyce Cuveas, and Amber Autry for pink shoes/socks or pajamas, Jason Hamer, Diana Casianos, and again, Robbie Wright for hawaiian/flamingo, Kayden McDonald, Shelby Allen, Jose Lopez, and Nicole StumblingBear for teacher and student swap, and Luke Parson, Emma Parson, and Ms. Casianos for pink out. Each winner received some pink merchandise of their choice. Make sure to congratulate them if you see them! 

Additionally, Cape Fear DECA’s Pie-in-the-Face fundraiser is complete. The teachers with the most donations were: 1st place-Mrs. Hawks, 2nd place-Mrs. Osornio, and 3rd place-Mrs. Johnson. Those teachers will be getting pied in the face this Friday, October 18th, at the homecoming pep-rally. 

Next Up, the DECA induction will be held October 24th, from 5:00-7:00. All members can RSVP by filling out the google doc that was sent to their email. To stay up to date with any new DECA information make sure to follow their instagram @capefear.deca.

It’s official, Cape Fear’s Beta Club has started back up, with elections being sent out October 9th and closing the next day at 4pm for the 2024-2025 officers. The winners include: Kaydin Brown as President, Kennedi Brown as Vice-President, Rachel Leonard as Secretary/Treasurer, and Peyton Eason as social media coordinator. 

Lastly, Colts for Christ will have their weekly meetings at 7:55am in the main gym on Tuesday, October 15th with Kalila De-la-cruz speaking, and on Thursday, October 17th with Brianna Keen speaking. To stay updated check out their instagram @colts_4christ.
