On January 7th, DECA held a meeting about their upcoming state competition in Greensboro, which will take place on February 26th. They will return back to the competition on Saturday, March 1st.

The competition will feature multiple students from different schools and districts bringing in their presentations to compete in winning the award, a $200,000 scholarship to high-school and college students.

A DECA competition holds categories ranging from Business Management and Administration to Personal Financial Literacy; however, the competition is broken into three different sections of competition:

Role-play and Case Studies: Students must complete a multiple choice career cluster exam and participate in a role play situation with a DECA judge.

Prepared Events: Students must come with a written portion and a presentation the students must present to a judge at the competition.

Online Stimulations: Challenges students in an online business environment. Using said online program, students across other regions can earn the same opportunity to win the award as their opponents.

Students in each section of competition will compete against each other, with judges rating on the students’ performance and professionalism.

With all this in mind, let’s wish our DECA Colts good luck on their competition this upcoming February!
