On December 14, 2024, the Cape Fear Indoor Track team competed in the Pinecrest Polar Bear #1. 

The boys fared well with Jaxon Hoover placing 2nd in the 300 meter with a time of 36.51 seconds. He also placed 2nd in the 500 meter with a time of one minute and 13.87 seconds. 

“There was a lot of improvement made. It was just overall a good time. The work we have put in for the past two seasons has paid off thanks to Coach Callahan,” said Hoover. 

Khalil Marshall also placed in the 500 meter at 5th with a time of one minute and 16.40 seconds.  

“We are warming up together as a whole to do better. As the season progresses we are going to improve and work together as a team,” said Marshall. 

In the 1000 meter, three of our athletes placed. Lucas Wells placed 3rd at 3 minutes and 6.93 seconds, James Riddle placed 4th at 3 minutes and 7.99 seconds, and Jordan Price placed 7th at 3 minutes and 16.17 seconds. Jordan Price also placed 7th in the 1600 meter run with a 5 minute and 36.39 second time. In the 4×800 meter relay, Cape Fear placed 2nd with a time of 9 minutes and 23.85 seconds. 

As for the girls, we had 3 outstanding runners. Leah Carter placed 9th in the 300 meter with 46.06 seconds. In the 500 meter, Cape Fear had 2 runners place with Shayla Bonilla placing 6th at 1 minute and 36.02 seconds and Anaiya Lewin placing 8th at 1 minute and 36.40 seconds. 

The girls placed 9th overall and the boys placed 6th overall. Coach Callahan was very happy with the results.

“The meet all around was awesome. They did everything I was expecting and they all met their times and a few even beat their PR’s. It was everything I wanted for this team,” Callahan said. 

The next meet will be this Saturday, January 11th. There will also be a meet at JDL Fast Track on January 14th.
