CFNN reporters Ally Shannon and Julius lucas are here to keep you up to date with the latest news updates on Cape Fear boys basketball team: The Colts comeback!

Coming back from a hard-fought loss against the Seventy-First Falcons last week, the Colts have claimed their crown again against the Jack Britt Buccaneers 49-48. This win lifts the Colts to a record of 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference, reigniting their hopes for the season.

With yet another electrifying display of talent on the court, Joshua Green racked up an impressive 15 points. His sharp shooting and quick moves were pivotal in securing the team’s victory. Green’s dedication and skill were on full display, making him a standout player of the game and a key contributor to the team’s success.

The game started with the Colts bursting out of the locker room with incredible energy leading 11-8. They used this momentum as the temple for success and carried that energy throughout the rest of the quarter. This was just the beginning of a relentless battle to the very end.

As the second quarter began, the Colts carried their energy from the first quarter, scoring 18 points, but unfortunately were matched in intensity by the Bucs, and ended up trailing by 3 points at the break.

Cape Fear returned from the break with a plan to take the victory, but Jack Britt came out ready to execute, outscoring the Colts 5-7 in the third. However, the team knew the lead wasn’t secure, and they forged a plan to rise above the Buccaneers with Geronimo Sanchez snagging a total of 7 rebounds. His relentless effort on the boards was crucial, as was executing his strategy and maintaining their edge.

“I think we’re gonna go into this next game playing a lot harder,” said Joshua Green, emphasizing how this game is not only a physical battle but also a mental one.

In a thrilling finale, the Colts executed a brilliant play, leading to a game-winning shot from Geronimo Sanchez.

He recalled the moment vividly, “Coach drew out a play for the game and initially it wasn’t my idea so I just got open and he found me man and I knew it was either me or the buzzer,” said Sanchez

The Colts took home the victory Tuesday night promising nothing but their teamwork, resilience and spirit going forward. As they look forward to their next game, one thing is certain: they are ready to battle header and chase after their ultimate goal.
