Everyone, get out your safety glasses and lab coats, cause the Science Olympiad regionals competition is coming near you in Fayetteville!
Run by Kelly Osornio and Kaely Churchill, the Science Olympians meet every other Wednesday in room 201. With only nine more meetings to go, they are working hard to prepare for the competition.
“Honestly, I’m super excited [about the competition],” said Mr. Churchill, co-leader of Science Olympiad. “It’s very exciting to see the motivation…It’s, honestly, been a great time working with them.”
The Olympians are diligent in their meetings, driven to win their regional competition in March. They cooperate well with each other, improving their teamwork skills and strategies. They are good listeners, understanding their leaders instructions and doing their best on their assignments for that meeting. Students have structure in their meetings, which help with time management and keeping things organized in daily life.
“We have a lot of fun,” said Mrs. Osorino, leader of Science Olympiad. “…But I also want them to bond because it is a group, it is a team…I try to build a good community with our group because it’s better when we all get along.”
On March 15th 2025, the Science Olympiad Regional Competition will take place at Fayetteville Technical College, where our Olympiad team will compete. The competition works in three different types of sections, labeled A, B and C. Each school’s team will compete in these three sections. There are around 23 events in the Regional Competition. Whichever team wins the most points in each section will head off to State competition.
Let’s send our Olympians our good luck as they strive for excellence and knock the competition out of the park!
