CFNN Reporter: Kennedi Brown and Kaydin Brown
Colt Nation is taking over the most infamous college rivalry in North Carolina with the announcement of early decision acceptances for the graduating class of 2025!
It is no secret that there is, has, and will always be a debate whether the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill or North Carolina State University is a better choice for higher education. Not only in regards to education, but each university has such a strong sense of community and pride that precedes it. This leads to a heavy draw of young students to the lively atmospheres both schools are home to.
Cape Fear prepares its students with the utmost academic opportunities to allow them to excel in the college application process. From Advanced Placement courses to an abundance of clubs and organizations to get involved in, each student is more than qualified to attend college wherever their heart desires with the required amount of hard work and dedication. With both UNC and NC State having nationally recognized programs from business, engineering, agriculture, nursing, etc. many colts were eager to get a jump start when applying for these colleges, choosing early decision over regular decision. We are proud to report that an exceptional amount of colts were granted admittance to both of these esteemed universities.
The class of 2025 that was admitted into North Carolina State University includes: Kaydin Brown, Kennedi Brown, Josh Pirro, Alexis Martin, Vicky Wang, Camillo Cueva, and Ainsley Spell.
The class of 2025 that was admitted into the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill includes: Kaydin Brown, Kennedi Brown, Josh Pirro, Brannon Quinton, Brandon Simpson, Alexis Martin, Larissa Washington, and Ainsley Spell.
With these being two of the most competitive schools in North Carolina, these acceptances are something our Colts should be proud of. To get into these schools requires standout stats from an exceptional GPA to not one B obtained in their high school career. Every single one of these admitted students have well over a 4.0 unweighted GPA and participate in numerous clubs, sports, community service, etc.
Josh Pirro, an AP Capstone student, looking to major in biochemistry at UNC, exclaimed, “I was very excited when I found out that I was accepted. I loved the history of the university and the campus itself as well as the area. Also, Carolina blue is the best blue. I’m really happy I got in and can’t wait to start college there, especially since I’ll have some of my friends going with me.”
Being a High School senior is an extraordinary experience. A Senior is excited for the future, yet constantly worried for what is to come. The decision of where to go to college is a major one because it is the start of these young students’ lives. These aren’t the only amazing acceptances our graduating class has received, but getting into these two Universities is an accomplishment within itself.
Every college acceptance received for our Class of 2025 is something to boast about, not just for UNC and NC State. Your Colt family is extremely proud of you! We wish each senior the best of luck in their future endeavors and have no doubt they will bring a little slice of Colt Country to their homes for the next four years!
