CFNN Reporters: Ally Shannon and Julius Lucas
The Cape Fear Colts played Douglas Byrd Tuesday, securing a richly-deserved win through a balanced performance from the whole team. With a range of players contributing, the Colts displayed both skill and depth in moving the ball effectively.
Junior guard Chosen Wynn took over offensively, chipping in 12 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists, and proving himself a key creator offensively. Sophomore forward Dylan Parker added to the cause, contributing 8 points and 1 rebound.
“It feels good, you know I just wanna help the team and do the best I can to win,” said Chosen Wynn.
Senior forward Tyler Eavenson posted a strong overall performance, chipping in 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists, and junior forward Phillip Lesane and senior forward King Faison chipping.
Sophomore guard Joshua Green played strong minutes off the bench, chipping in 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists, and proving himself capable of driving. Meanwhile, Jakeal Williams and Geronimo Sanchez both chipped in 3, and helped maintain a balanced attack.
“ It felt great, you know, getting a lot of rebounds. I was definitely a essential player on the defensive side and I wanted to do everything to help secure the win,” said sophomore guard Joshua Green
The Colts, overall, finished with 70, with 14 rebounds, 19 assists, and 33 overall rebounds, and displayed skill at both ends of court.
The strong overall performance with which the Cape Fear Colts won will stand them in good stead, and they will hope to build on that in their next game and make it a winning run.
