This Monday Night, Colts for Christ hosted a “Night of Worship” for students and anyone interested. It was an incredible event that brought in roughly 50 people ready to hear God’s good news! Coach Britt oversaw the event and opened with some remarks. I then led the congregation in an opening prayer.
We had a student band that performed worship songs throughout the night. Brandon Simpson and Evan Smith played guitar, and Ady Ramsey beautifully sang. They performed “Worship Through It,” “Made for More,” and “Gratitude.” It was truly inspiring to hear so many young people proclaiming their love for Jesus through worship!
When asked how this idea came about and why we put it together, Coach Britt remarked “A student actually came up and asked me about it and I thought it was a great idea. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students and other people within the community to be involved. It’s different from our biweekly meetings in that it’s an extended period of time to worship, not just diving into the Word. Doing that is fine, but sometimes it can feel monotonous so it was great to change it up with worship and testimonials.”
A few students courageously shared their testimony in front of the group. First up was Carlie Butler who gave a beautiful testimony flooded with love and hope. Then, Jackson Wallace bravely went up and gave his testimony. Lastly, I gave my testimony to the group sharing what God has done in my life.
The guest speaker was Dr. Joe Catlett who gave a great message on temptations the youth face now and how to keep our eyes on God when those times come. Some of those tips were to get in the Word, consistently be in prayer, cutting things or people out who are leading us to that temptation, etc.
Carter Edwards loved the message, saying, “I think he did a really good job with relating to us as high schoolers, and he made a decision when he was young that I feel could be one we are faced with. He kept me hooked and I never lost interest in what he was saying, and I appreciated how it all tied back to his faith in Jesus.”
To close the night out, Coach Britt read Mark 10:17-31 and Carlie Butler prayed. Colts for Christ is already trying to figure out when to do the next Night of Worship, and we will let you know once that is scheduled!
