The gym was ecstatic and filled with energy as the Colts took on the Eagles at home with anticipation as the senior boys took the court for their final home conference game. The crowd cheered in support, knowing they were about to witness a night filled with unforgettable moments and standout performances. Key senior players Bryan Charles, Damien Gary, King Faison and Tyler Eavenson led the boys to a 56-36 victory. This win now puts the boys 4th in the conference with a record of 5-4.
As the game unfolded, the boys each had their moment to shine, but the reality soon set in that this was their last time playing on their home court. The joy of the win was tinged with the sadness of saying goodbye to a place that has been like their second home.

“Every year there is a new team, and more people get added to the brotherhood,” explained Damien, touching that although every year the team gets more players added, it never affects the bond and maintains great chemistry.
Their shared love for the game was undeniable, but soon, the realities of adulthood loomed. Tyler, the scientist-to-be, is planning on going to a community college and transferring out to a university and is set on majoring in marine science and taking a further step in that direction.
King plans to keep his football legacy alive and attend Savannah State in the fall to play football.
Damien, the insightful team medic-in-training, plans on attending a university and continuing his football dreams and majoring in sports medicine.
“I plan on attending a university where I get a great education and possibly play football as well,” said Bryan.

All these players will go on their own journeys now, splitting from the path they’ve been on together the last 4 years. But for one last home conference game, their bonds forged and made a statement on the court.
Any time the team’s spirits may be down, the sweet taste of victory is just around the corner.A time-honored tradition awaits: Tyler’s mom’s legendary chocolate fudge brownies. Although they are just brownies, it’s something the boys will look back on to reminisce on the old days.

“A great moment for us on the team is when Tyler brings brownies,” said King.
Now, with the clock on the season slowly ticking down, there is one thing we can’t put past them: their support system. Each of the boys expressed how amazing it has been being on the team and how much support they’ve gotten from each other and the coaches they have played with over their 4 years of playing basketball.
The unwavering support from the team created a sense of mutual respect. Each player felt valued and understood by one another, creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere where individual growth and success was made. The coaches, acting as mentors, friends and even family, played a crucial role in their development and mental atmosphere.
“I’ve had a lot of good people around me for all sports and it’s sad seeing it all go, but I’m thankful for those who helped me,” said Tyler, reflecting on the strong support system and guidance that he’s received from coaches and teammates.

This sense of teamwork and enthusiasm has been a cornerstone of all of their athletic journeys, highlighting the importance of having a solid support system. We’ll be sad to see these amazing players leave, but excited to see their accomplishments in the future.
