Anderson, Landon Anderson: a freshman student who has beaten all the rest when it comes to expressing who he is. He has the drive, the ability, and the motivation; he is the student of the week.

Landon was born and raised in Fayetteville with his younger brother and parents. He grew up in a very religious home, when he was in preschool, he went to a christian church everyday to learn more about his religion, which was fun for him to go through.

In Landon’s free time, usually weekends, he spends time with most of his friends, but mainly his best friend, Oscar. They both enjoy hanging out, working out, playing games, and in summer, swimming in the pool.

Landon and Oscar met in middle school band class and have been inseparable since. They entered their freshman year together still being the closest of friends, which makes Oscar speak highly and kindly about his best friend.

“What makes him my best friend, he’s the one person in my life I could go to because he’ll reassure me of anything that is going on in my life, no matter what, especially when I need him most,” said Oscar Trujillo Garcia.

Other than his classes at school, he has made friends from his activities outside of school as well because of his kindness and willingness to be a friend to everyone.

Landon’s kindness is a part of his everyday life, his friends, parents, and even teachers speak highly of him. “Landon is also a very supportive and positive person in the classroom. As soon as he walks through the door he brings a very positive energy, he is excited to be in class and he is excited to learn. He gives his best in everything, he participates in class and he is always in class discussions,” said Anderson’s English Teacher, Mrs. Demchock.

When it comes to being motivated and pushed to achieve greatness in high school, even as a freshman, Landon can always rely on his mom and dad. With the guidance of his parents, Landon has been putting in hard work not only with academics, but swimming, band, and will soon take a shot at the boys lacrosse team.

Landon stays on top of his work and does it to the best of his abilities.

“Landon’s a great student; he does a great job of making sure he gets all his work done, and he wants to make sure he does things correctly,” said Coach Hall. “Landon likes to be the best at everything he does whether it be mental or physical education. He really cares about what he does and he takes a lot of pride in what he does,” said PE Teacher Coach Hall.

Landon not only does one sport or activity but plans to do all three and keep himself with the focus and drive for his education at the same time. In the fall he focuses on band and does marching and concert band, in the winter he focuses on swimming and the competitions that come with it, and now he will focus on lacrosse this spring only to try something new and work his hardest towards it.

“During the weekends and for band events, I spend a lot of time with my mother, she’s always been very motivational for me, especially when it comes to band activities. My father has been really motivating me to do more athletic stuff, which is why I did jujitsu in middle school and starting to do more as I’m going into high school,” said Anderson.

Going through middle school is all about being prepared for the changes in your life and who you are going to become in the next 4 years of your life, in high school, though Landon has labeled himself shy, he knows what he believes in for his life.

“I go through life just getting through each day, just looking forward to the next. I am not too uncomfortable usually, because I had a good life growing up, so I know that whenever I do get uncomfortable, I have a good family to go home to,” said Landon.

As far as his academics go after high school, he plans to go to a four year college and study in a field of engineering. Though he’s not sure on which field or college, he knows he can excel at a fast rate in mathematics.

“Landon always excels and tries to do everything to perfection, he will ask questions and make sure that everything he’s doing is correct, and that really puts him above and beyond most of his peers,” said Anderson’s Science teacher Mrs. Osornio.

Anderson is a model of how academics are important now more than ever in a student’s freshman year. When you first enter high school, your freshman year should be taken seriously more than anything, it builds to set you up for the next years of high school and for flying colors in academics for colleges.

This student is the example of how to start your high school career the right way and to keep your mind sharp throughout it. Landon has proved that because of who he is, and because of his hard work he has been given the title of student of the week.
