The Lady Colts soccer team started their week of non-conference games playing away on Tuesday the 25th at Pinecrest High, where they unfortunately took their first loss of the season with the game ending at 0-5. While it wasn’t the outcome the Colts were looking for, the Colts will use this match as a learning lesson and come back stronger.

Their next game was on Wednesday, February 26, where they hosted the South Brunswick Cougars. Senior Grace Sherbert scored two goals and Senior Shea Bieniek scored one. At half time, the lady Colts were down 1-3, but they turned it around and put up two more goals, and held the Cougars at 3 goals. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

“I think these last two games were a great way to start the season and really see how well we can all work together. We can only get better from here and improve our trust and support for each other, we’ll go far,” said senior Shea Bienek.

The last game of the week was at the home of the Hoke County Bucks, as our Colts left with a 3-0 win making that the first win of the season. Senior Shea Beinek again lit up the board with two goals and Junior Hannah McGill with one goal leading to the Colts victory.

“Our chemistry and teamwork have significantly improved over the past few weeks. While there’s still room for growth, I am confident that we are prepared for a successful season ahead,” said Senior Grace Sherbert.

The Lady Colts have demonstrated resilience this past week coming back from a tough loss on Tuesday, and then ending the week with a strong win at Hoke. The Colts now stand at 1-1-1 on the season, and they are poised to make noise in the United 8 Conference. It will be exciting to watch the rest of the Lady Colts season.

The Colts are on the pitch again tonight at 6 PM where they will take on the Trojans from Pine Forest High School. Come on out and support the team. Go Colts!
