The Colts Golf Team was back in action last Monday, March 10th on their home course at Baywood. The weather conditions were definitely not what the boys expected leading to this match.
The heavy rain made it extremely difficult to play a normal round of golf, but they strived through these harsh conditions and were able to finish the match.
The low scorer for the Colts was Landen Kersey, who shot a 75. This was good enough to put Kersey in first place in the conference for the match.
Other top scorers for the Colts were Ashton Leonard with an 83, Layton Lucas with an 84, Jacob Fisher, who shot a 94. All scorers contributed to the team score of 336.
“Last week at Baywood, we got the win as a team where the team played well without one of our starters, Tyler. Along with myself shooting my best score of the season with a 75 and winning medalist, it was a good week to build off of and to eventually winning conference,” said Kersey.
The finish from the Colts was good enough to put them in first place in the United 8 Conference at this point in the season.
Grays Creek followed with a second place finish, only 5 strokes behind the Colts, shooting a 341.
Other Colts contributing to the team score were Bryson Barlow with a 90, Mason Hancock with a 97, Gage Mosley with a 100 and Micheal Longany with a 108. The boys played well on the home course despite the bad weather conditions.
“The boys played hard in extreme weather conditions. Between the cold, rain and wind, it wasn’t a pleasant day for goIf. I was very proud of our team’s performance,” said Coach White after the match.
The Colts will be back on the course travelling to Gates Four Country Club this week. Be on the lookout for more news about our boys golf team!
