The Cape Fear Softball team had a big conference week. The Colts started the week playing Jackbritt, then Triton, and rounded out the week with Southview.

Tuesday night, the Colts took on the Jack Britt pirates and boosted their conference record to 4-0. While in the first inning the score remained 0-0, both teams came out in the second.

Jack Britt only scored one in the top of the second with Mckinley Kolasa in the circle.

In the bottom of the second, the Colts came out even stronger scoring 6 runs. Many athletes had an outstanding performance helping the colts get another win.

Jaden Valdez batted 1.000 with 1 RBI. Kayleigh Brewington went 2-4 bringing in two runs.

Defensively, the Colts kept improving and only had 1 error, allowing the Pirates to score just two runs.

Wednesday night, the Softball Team had another matchup against Triton. Not ending in the way the team wanted it, the Colts took their first loss of the season 17-16.

The team fought hard and never gave up throughout the whole game while trying to catch up to the Hawks.

The Hawks scored 5 in the start of the game forcing the Colts to play catch up the whole game. The Ladies were able to score 3 runs to keep the score tight.

Triton managed to place the ball where the Colts weren’t, and put up 17 runs across 7 innings.

Even though the Colts didn’t come out on top, many athletes had an outstanding performance and took every opportunity they had.

Allie Dawson batted 1.000, Amari Adams right behind her, 0.800 and Kayleigh Brewington and Addison Davis batted 0.600.

The Colts put pressure on Tritons defense and forced them to make 6 errors.

“Both Triton and the Lady Colts hit the ball well. The Lady Colts showed true grit battling back from a ten run deficit at one point, but in the end, we came up shy a couple of runs in the bottom of the seventh for the loss,” said pitching coach, Dee Davis.

The Ladies tried their hardest to come back and scratched away a couple runs per inning although in the end it wasn’t enough.

Friday Night, Cape Fear had a huge conference game against the Southview Tigers. Both Teams were coming off a loss and we’re looking to end the week on a positive note.

The game was scoreless until the 3rd inning where Southview put two runs on the board. Amari Adams hit an in the park homerun to put a run up for Cape Fear.

The Colts had a perfect defense game but couldn’t find a way to score more against Southview.

The game ended in South Views’ favor with a final score of 7-1.

The Colts are hoping to bounce back after these two losses. They have two more home conference games this week, playing Grays Creek Tuesday and their second matchup against Lumberton Friday. We wish the Colts the best of luck this week, and come back to CFNN for more updates!
