In a competitive world of high school sports, standing out as a freshman on a varsity team is no small feat. Ava Luchetta, a talented soccer player, has not only made her mark but has also become a key player for the varsity squad. With her impulsive skills, determination, and passion for the game, Ava is proving that age is just a number when it comes to athletic excellence proving to the colt community why she is this week’s Athlete of the Week.
From a young age, Ava grew up around girls who played soccer and wanted to be just like them. Ava started playing rec soccer when she was young and it quickly became a passion for her. From the moment she kicked her first ball, you could see the joy it brought her. She joined local teams and spent countless hours practicing, learning the fundamentals, and developing her skills.
A fun fact about Ava is she is one of a set of triplets. Growing up with two siblings who share the same birthday must have added a unique twist to her life. Not only do they share a close bond, but they also have the opportunity to support each other in their individual pursuits, including sports. Ava mentioned that her brothers are some of her biggest supporters, this close-knit relationship not only strengthens their bond as siblings but also adds to Ava’s confidence and determination on the soccer field.
“Ava has been by my side ever since I began playing soccer. She is not only an amazing soccer player but the most amazing person off of the field. Her unwavering positivity and commitment to being the best that she can be makes her a light to be around. I’m grateful for Ava’s friendship and I can’t wait to watch and be her biggest supporter as she becomes her best self,” says Ava’s friend and teammate Addison Gunter.
Although Ava plays a significant role in the Cape Fear Women’s soccer team, she’s also a travel ball champ. Ava’s selection for the Villareal North America select team in the U15 category marks a significant achievement in her young soccer career. This opportunity to compete in Texas against other talented players from across America will provide invaluable experience and exposure. The tournament in texas will likely involve several matches against diverse teams, testing avas skills and adaptability.
One of Ava’s pre game rituals is to set up her playlist and listen to Rod Wave. The soulful and motivational lyrics help her to get into the right mindset, calming her nerves and pumping her up for the game ahead. It’s become a crucial part in her routine, giving her the focus and energy she needs to perform at her best. Whether she’s on the bus to an away game, or in the locker room, you can bet that Rod Wave is playing through her headphones.
“Ava is a prime example of what it means to be dedicated on and off the field. Not only does she give her best effort to be the best player she can be, but she’s always making sure she is being the best teammate and friend she can be, too. I’m lucky to have Ava as my teammate and friend. The memories that we share are irreplaceable, and getting to play a small part in her soccer journey and cheering her on is special. She really is a great player, but an even better person,” said Abbikate Daughtry.
Being a freshman on varsity she has made some of her best friends out of experienced upperclassmen. Hannah McGills, a junior, has shown that unwavering support and friendship are invaluable to Ava. They share a bond built on mutual respect and understanding, forged through playing soccer at the same club. Hannahs presence provides Ava with a sense of belonging and confidence, helping her navigate the pressures of varsity competition.
Ava’s success is not solely dependent on her skills, but also on the strength of her support system. Alongside Hannah, she also has Junior player AbbiKate Daughtry and Sophomore player Addison Gunter who are fellow teammates on the Colts Soccer team. Highlighting how much they mean to her, this friendship adds another layer of support and fun to their life. Whether they are cheering each other on during games or just hanging out, it’s clear that they share a strong bond.
“Ava has been by my side ever since I started playing soccer, and I’m so excited to watch her grow as a player and a person as her soccer career steadily grows every year,” says Gunter.
Another key figure in avas life is one of her best friends, Ella Martin. Though Ella doesn’t play soccer she’s one of Ava’s closest friends and biggest supporters. Ella is always there to offer a listening ear, words of encouragement, and mental support.
“She works really hard, she’s very dedicated. If anyone deserves this title it’s her and I’m so proud of her,” says Ella Martin.
In the end, Ava Luchetta is not just an incredible athlete; she’s a testament to hard work, determination, and the power of friendship. With endless support from her friends, family and coaches, Ava continues to shine on and off the field, not only as a player but also a person. All together Ava Luchetta being named Athlete of the week is a well-deserved recognition of everyone put together.
