On Tuesday, March 25, Colt Girls Soccer had a matchup against the Jack Britt Buccaneers at the Colts stadium. A strong performance offensively and defensively was required if the Colts wanted to see a victory. Cape Fear sank the Buccaneer ship with a clean sheet, shutting out Jack Britt putting up two goals for themselves.
Senior Caroline Hales scored both goals for the Colts. Her talent on the field is appreciated by her team, and her effort never goes unnoticed.
“It was an indescribable feeling to score both goals in the game vs Britt. I have been playing up the field in the past few games and I am really grateful for the increased scoring opportunities, so I do my best to capitalize on those opportunities to help my team secure the win,” said Hales after the match.
On the following Friday, the Colts took a trip to the Jungle, with a game against the South View Tigers. The Colts were pumped up for this match, as it followed an incredible win from Tuesday; they were hopeful to create many scoring opportunities with a lot of goals against the Tigers.
Through the course of the game, the Colts scored 4 goals and held the Tigers to zero, earning their second straight shutout. Hales, Kayla Brown, and Hannah McGill scored for the Colts. McGill had two goals against the Tigers, which kept the Colts in good positioning to come out on top.
“I am proud of the team as we have continued to prove our physical and mental strength as we face tough opponents. Locking in 2 more wins against teams in our conference is big. Getting to put up 2 goals to help my team was important to me,” said leading scorer McGill. “Everyone on the team has a different role, so I do my best to carry out mine and hold the midfield, as well as put up goals to get wins.”
The Colts have been working hard at their craft to maintain a strong record. A conference championship is on the line, so the Colts train and play hard to make a statement to those who track.
