The Cape Fear Softball Team has had a beyond busy week, playing in 4 games.They started off Tuesday with a conference game at Purnell Swett, then traveled to C.B. Aycock, and finished the week off with a double header against 71st at home.

After their first matchup against Purnell Swett, the Colts knew what they needed to do to come out with another win. The Ladies snuck out with a gritty 13-10 win over the Rams.

The Ladies got the bats going early and managed to have 20 hits across 7 innings. Amari Adams led the team with 4 hits, batting .800 and 2 RBIs. Kayleigh Brewington batted .750, with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Another big performer was Kalilah De La Cruz who also batted .750 with 3 hits, 3 runs and 1 walk.

On the defensive side, the Colts had 3 errors but also turned 3 double plays. McKinley Kolasa, who started on the mound, but then moved to second, created 2 of them, and Right Fielder Jaden Valdez had the other one.

Karalina Tomasic pitched most of the game, giving up 13 hits, walking 1 and striking out 3.

“Even though it was possibly our worst we still came out with a win” said Coach Jeff McPhail.

Wednesday night, The Colts traveled to C.B Aycock, and returned home with a win over the Falcons 9-3. Moving their record to 11-3.

The Colts scored first, with two in the first and two in the second. 

Kloe Watts led the team Wednesday, batting .750 with 3 hits and 1 RBI. McKinley Kolasa and Kayleigh Brewington both batted .500 with them getting two hits each.

“Getting these hits helped me out significantly and just really boosted the team’s energy and kept us going,” said Watts.

The Colts only had 1 error Wednesday night and limited C.B Aycocks’ hits to 9. Karalina Tomasic was on the mound for the game, striking out 1, walking 3 and only giving up only 3 earned runs.

For the final two games over the week, the Colts had a double header against 71st High School. The ladies brought a bunch of energy which helped them come out with two wins, making them 4-0 on the week.

In the first game 6 players  all batted a staggering 1.000 ending up with 11 hits. The team all together had a batting average of .688 and an on base percentage of .741. The Colts were lights out on the defensive side and finished the first game with a final score of 20-0. 

The second game ended with a final score of 23-0. 5 players batted 1.000 and had a team batting average of .774. Allie Dawson made her first mound appearance striking out two players and giving up only 1 hit.

The Colts now have a record of 11-3 and 6-2 in conference. Next week the Ladies will play Douglas Bryd on  Tuesday at Home. Wednesday they will be on the road in Lee County. Friday they will finish the week up at Jack Britt for another conference game.
