In a closely contested varsity baseball game, the Cape Fear Colts faced off against the Jack Britt Buccaneers last night, ultimately falling short with a score of 2-0 in a rain-delayed, five inning, controversial game. The game showcased some key moments from the Colts, despite the disappointing result.
The Colts struggled to find their rhythm at the plate, managing only three hits throughout the game. Caden Jeffery, Jackson Rainey, and Mason Hope were the only players to register a hit, demonstrating their determination to contribute to the team’s efforts.
Despite their offensive struggles, the Colts showcased some defensive prowess. Brycen Talley and Chris Serbio executed a crucial double play, highlighting their teamwork and skill on the field.
While Landon Underwood made an impact by stealing a base, and Brayden Payne along with Brycen Talley earned walks, the Colts were unable to convert these opportunities into runs. The Pirates’ pitching proved too formidable, keeping the Colts off the scoreboard.
Despite the loss, the Cape Fear Colts displayed resilience and teamwork, setting the stage for future improvements in their upcoming games.
This weekend the Colts will be playing in the annual Easter tournament which will be held at Terry Sanford. Cape Fear will be facing Lee County. Come out and support your fellow Colts as they put their winning streak back in motion!
