On Tuesday morning, Tyler Eavenson led the devotion on finding peace through God’s loving plans. He leads with the beautiful scripture John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
This verse expresses how God offers peace for all who follow Him. The group talked about the things in life we find peace in, and how we can only find true peace through Jesus Christ. This message was very moving, and conveyed how the world can never give true and everlasting peace. Jesus is the way to peace in every life. We had a conversation about what we choose to put our heart and soul into. At the end of the day, none of the worldly things we give our all to will amount to anything. However, there is one thing that will amount to EVERYTHING. A relationship with Jesus Christ. We gain peace by putting our all into God.
Just like what Nehemiah 8:10 reads: “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” The joy of the Lord is our strength and peace. For this world has nothing to give us, but the Lord has given us all, so it is our turn to give Him our all.
On Thursday, Coach Britt led the devotion on “VIP access,” coming from Philippians 3:10 and Ephesians 1:17. Philippians 3:10 reads “that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death.” Ephesians 1:17 says “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him.”
The main focus of the devotion was that we need to realize we have been given “VIP access” to the Lord, and we need to take advantage of it. When Jesus took His last breath on the cross, the veil was torn in two.
To me, this is one of the most powerful images in the bible. The supernatural tearing of the veil that separated the presence of God and even the holiest of priests, is such strong imagery. This moment is such good news for us; it means that we are able to have a relationship with Jesus in a new way, a way where we have full access to Him. So take advantage of it!
We can pray to God whenever and wherever we want. We can read our bible whenever and wherever we want. We can declare God’s good work in our life and the gospel whenever and wherever we want. So what are we waiting for? I pray for boldness of faith in both your life and mine, so that we may walk in confidence that we have a seat at Jesus’ table.
Thank you for reading, and remember to pick up your cross daily!
