The Cape Fear Softball team dominated Jack Britt in the first round of the conference tournament. This win put the Colts into the second round against the Tigers of South View.
Tuesday night, The Colts faced the Buccaneers of Jack Britt and came out with a victory 8-2.
The Colts started off strong, scoring 4 runs in the first inning. Kalilah De La Cruz batted .750 with 3 hits and 2 runs. Addison Davis went 2-3 hitting her first home run for Cape Fear. Allie Dawson was also a key player at the plate driving in 4 runs.
McKinley Kolasa was in the circle for another game, allowing 2 hits while striking out 7. The Colts as a team had 2 errors.
“I’m glad that I could step in a game where we were struggling to find ways to bring runs in. Our energy was down and a hit like this got us going to where we needed to be to finish the game” said Davis.
This game moved the Colts onto round 2 of the Conference Tournament against Southview High School.
Thursday night, the Ladies faced the Tigers for the 3rd time of the year. The game didn’t end how we hoped and the tournament ended there for the Colts.
Even though the Colts didn’t come out on top, some players still had a vital performance. Allie Dawson, Amari Adams and McKinley Kolasa all batted .500 with 2 hits. Kalilah De La Cruz, Kayleigh Brewington and Kloe watts all had 1 hit.
The Colts only had 1 error. McKinley Kolasa was on the mound. She gave up 8 hits and struck out 4. The Colts ended in a final score of 7-2.
Tuesday Night the Colts will take on the first round of State Playoffs. The Ladies will be home but unaware of who they are playing. Be there to support your Colts in hopes of a deep playoff run!
