Tuesday evening in the first round of the state playoffs, the Colts ran roughshod over the Knights of Northern Nash, winning 4-0. The Colts started hot offensively, and cooled down  Northern Nash with great pitching and suffocating defense.

Sophomore Landon Underwood kicked off the game with a blast to left center field on the first pitch of the game. Riding off that momentum, Chris Serbio layed down a fantastic bunt to move the runner into scoring position. The Colts took a 1-0 lead after the first inning.

“Before the game Coach Britt told me to close my stance because they were trying to throw inside on me, and I just wanted to get the game started for all my seniors,” expressed Landon Underwood.

“Feels good to be able to sacrifice for the team, and put them in the position to score,” Chris Serbio explained.

Landon Underwood scored 3 of the Colt’s 4 runs. Chris Serbio scored the 4th run to keep the Knights on their heels. Caden Jeffery pitched a complete game which was an absolute gem, tallying 11 strikeouts and allowing one hit in his shutout effort. Jeffrey pitched to 23 batters allowing zero runs with the help of the elite defense behind him.

“It feels great knowing my pitches worked, I just trusted in my defense and just decided to throw strikes, even if they made contact just knowing my guys got my back,”- Caden Jeffery stated.
