The atmosphere was electric in the Cape Fear Colts gym on Thursday August 18th when the Colts faced off against the Jack Britt Buccaneers. With both teams demonstrating exceptional skill and determination, it was clear from the first play that this was going to be a tough game.

The first set set the tone for the evening with the Colts pulling out a win with a 25-23 edge.

The second set saw the Colts maintain their momentum and secure the second set win, pushing past the Bucs 25-22.

“I think we did good for the most part but I think we need to work on hitting spots and covering our hitters. With the more games we play throughout the season we will further build a connection and in return start playing as more of a whole!” said sophomore Rightside Tessa Doll.

The third set was a thrilling back and forth battle with the teams exchanging points. The score climbed for both teams until reaching the dramatic climax of 28-30.

Finding the energy and focus to continue into the 4th set the Colts rallied and came together to defeat the Pirates 28-26.

“As a team I think we did good but we are definitely still growing because we are a pretty young group. I think we can improve on communication and our serve receive.” said senior Libero Ava Parker.

We could not be more proud of the progress the lady Colts have made to rebuild their team while still winning games in the process. We are looking forward to seeing what happens with the rest of their season. Go Colts!
