Cape Fear Girls Golf is back in season with a new team, and even a new coach! We’re welcoming back some of last season’s players, and we are excited to see what this year has in store for them. 

The Colts will have their first match Tuesday, September 2nd at Pinecrest Golf Course with Purnell Swett as the host. 

Chad White has stepped into the role of head coach, where he served as assistant coach this past season. He teaches Math 1, as well as AP Pre-Calculus here at Cape Fear. This well-known man has had some experience on the course, with helping throughout the year and playing a few rounds himself. 

“I expect us to qualify for states this year and win the conference championship,” said Coach White. It is astonishing to see such determination in his words. He has some high expectations for these girls and we hope to see that they will live up to them. 

Last year the Lady Colts ended their 2024 season with a 9 hole average of 303.9 and match points being 29.5. 

Two of the Lady Colts were named “2024 United 8 Athletic Conference All Conference Team” 1st Team Emily Harris. 2nd Team Saylor Drose, and graduated seniors, Caroline Hales and Abbey Bullard. 

The team consists of mostly returning players, Seniors: Ana Warchal and Nadia Thompson. Beginning their last season on the course. Juniors: Emily Harris and Saylor Drose, who were both a huge asset to the team last year. Sophomores: Holli Bunce and Tilly Cooper, improving each year. We welcome our newest additions,

Freshman: Sarah Eavenson, Laloni Pyles, and Mckinley Smith. 

Each one of these players have made a positive impact on the team. There is progress being made and we can’t wait to see the improvements. 

You could say the Colts ended on a high note, and we’re looking forward to an even better upcoming season!
