This week, the volleyball team faced a challenging schedule with two away games, resulting in a mixed outcome of one victory and one loss.

On Tuesday, the team showcased a dominant performance against the Clinton Dark Horses, securing a decisive win in three straight sets. The scores reflected the team’s strong play, with set scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-19. The team’s cohesive teamwork and effective communication were key factors in their victory, allowing them to control the match from start to finish.

However,  the ratio of wins and losses evened out to a 4-4 record, after Wednesday’s game as the team faced the Harnett Central Trojans. Despite a hard-fought effort, the team fell short losing in four sets. The final scores were 18-25, 18-25, 26-24, and 12-25. The match against the Trojans proved to be a valuable learning experience, highlighting areas for improvement as the team moves forward with the season.

“I think with the Harnett Central game we could have just done a little better on attacking the ball smartly, placing the ball well, and getting the other team out of system. Along with communicating better and trusting each other,” said Sophomore Defensive Specialist Sadie Adams.

The Colts are ready to hit the court again, and to prove that hard work pays off while coming back stronger. They will face the Lumberton Pirates next Tuesday and the Purnell Swett Rams next Thursday. These are two conference matches that the Colts need to capitalize on with two aggressive wins, to claim their names as the best of the 910.
