The Cape Fear Men’s Soccer team took the pitch again in an away game at Richmond Senior High School on Wednesday, September 3rd.
The Colts put up a hard fight, but came up just short, unfortunately losing 1-0 at full time. The Colts fought hard all the way to the very end with Richmond scoring in the last five minutes of the match.
“I think we did well on defense; we kept them on their side of the field for most of the game and held Richmond to very few shots,” said Team Captain Ryan Fisher.
Despite the loss, the Colts continue to post a winning record of 3-2 on the season, with conference play just around the corner.
Before the varsity team played, the JV Colts put on an impressive performance, securing their first win of the season. The Colts commanding win was never in doubt, as they scored early and often, winning handily 5-0, shutting out the JV Raiders for the win.
“We had better passing and communication with each other; our defense had a great game, and I’m really proud of our goalies; they both played a tremendous game,” said JV Captain Cameron Hall. “This strong win gives us some momentum now heading into these next few games.”
Freshman Kyle Horne was the “Man of the Match,” playing a fantastic game. He was instrumental in helping the JV Colts get their first win, scoring 4 out of the 5 goals.
“I think I can continue this form for the rest of the season, and help lead us to many more wins!” exclaimed Kyle Horne.
Both teams will be back at it next week, the Colts will be at Pine Forest on Monday, September 8th for their first game of the week. They will then take on Pine Forest once again on Wednesday, September 10th in Colt Country! Make sure to be there to support your Cape Fear Colts!
