On Saturday September 7th the Cape Fear Colts ran at Red Oak Middle School for the second time this season for the Knights Invitational. This meet offered a great opportunity for the athletes to see their progression from the first running here to now. Once again the Colts did a fantastic job striving for better with each race they ran.
”The boys team showed their hard work and consistency, bringing them 1st place for the second invitational in a row. Their determination and teamwork are setting the tone for an exciting season ahead,“ said Coach Jackie Demchock.
The boys finished 1st overall with 41 points against 9 teams. There were 8 total runners this week with 3 placing in the top 10. “I feel like I did a much better job compared to the other meets we’ve run in. I will continue to get better and better,” said Brayden.

This meet was a clear sign the team is building momentum and ready for an even stronger performance ahead.
“The weather and the hills made this meet challenging but the team managed to push through. We all scored better than last time at this course which shows how much we’ve improved in the past weeks. It also shows how much more we can achieve in the future,” said Anamarie Brenes, one of the girls team captains.
“The girls team is working hard and showing progress to move up in standings. They need to keep building speed and pushing the pace. The potential is there we just need the competitive mindset to get there,” said Coach Jackie Demchock
All of the Colts persisted through the tough and hilly course was an incredible way for the Colts to showcase their progression. The Colts next meet will be held at James L Morgan Recreation Complex on September 10th, starting at 4:30pm. Make sure you come out and support the Colts!
