Our Cape Fear Men’s Soccer teams hit the road twice this week! On Saturday, September 13th our Varsity Colts took on Croatan High School. In a defensive battle, the Colts fought to a 1-1 draw.

The first half was very entertaining; the Colts created several chances and came very near to scoring a goal but were ultimately unsuccessful. The Colts found the net once, but the goal was called back for an offside.
The Colts started the second half strong with Senior Francisco Garcia Rodriguez putting the Colts up with a solid strike. The Colts continued with their aggressive attack on the goal, but an unfortunate freekick from the opponents tied the game up. The Colts managed to keep fighting and came out with the draw.
Yesterday both of our teams traveled to play Wallace-Rose Hill High School.
Our JV Colts put up a hard fought battle, but came up short, losing 4-0 at fulltime.

“I have high hopes and high expectations, it’ll be interesting to see how the team performs,” said Head JV Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach Robert Wright. “The big takeaway is making sure we communicate and maximize our opportunities.”
Our Varsity Colts represented us well, pulling through with a 3-1 victory! The Colts did not let up for a moment and allowed only one goal to be scored on them.
Sophomore Aiden Hale put the Colts up early in the first half with a header. Senior Francisco Garcia Rodriguez scored an outstanding freekick to put the Colts up 2-0 at the halftime whistle.
“I have gotten way more confident from the start of the season, I am going to continue to score more goals to help the team,” said Francisco.

Sophomore Aiden Hale scored a header once again in the second half to put the Colts up 3-0! The Colts defended well the rest of the half only allowing one goal to be scored.
“It was amazing being able to score twice! I am happy that I was able to give our lead a cushion and help on defense to make sure we pulled through with the win,” stated Aiden.
Senior goalkeeper Brady Kennedy made an important penalty kick save late in the second half to end all hope for the opponents.
The Colts will be back in Colt Country next Monday, September 22nd taking on Lumberton for their conference opener. On Wednesday, September 24th, they’ll hit the road once again taking on Purnell Swett. Go support your Colts next week!
