Monday September 16th, the Girls Golf team hit the road for an away match at the challenging Stryker Golf Course.

The team played well and finished with a score of 297 to tie with Terry Sanford for a second place finish.

Cape Fear’s top 3 scorers were Sarah Eavenson finishing with a score of 88, Saylor Drose at 97, and Holli Bunce finishing with a score of 112.

Unlike the courses the girls normally play on, the course was very tough and hard to read. Despite the challenging conditions, the girls pushed through and placed second along with Terry Sanford.

“While the girls drivers were hot on Monday, their chipping and putting definitely needed some work. We will be practicing the bump and run this week along with lag putting to hopefully shave strokes for Monday’s match,” said Coach White.

Freshman Sarah Eavenson scored 2nd place overall. Her consistent improvement on the course is helping the overall performance of the team showing great potential.

“I think we did pretty good, considering the greens were absolutely horrendous. I do think I can improve on putting, and the sand bunkers I never want to see again, that is something I need to work on. Each match shows that I am improving but there’s still a lot of work to be done. Overall we are improving as the season goes on and the team is putting in the work and I think we will do better as the season goes on,” said Eavenson.

As the season continues, the Colts have their eyes on the game and staying focused. These ladies are constantly putting in the work and are ready to make a first place finish.

The Colts will be on the road again, traveling to Cypress Lakes Golf Club next Monday. Make the journey to come out and support the Lady Colts!
