This past week was an exciting one for our girls volleyball team, as they faced off against some tough competition. On Monday, they took on the Midway Raiders in a thrilling match that showcased our team’s resilience and skill. The game was a nail-biter, but the girls managed to pull through and win in four tight sets. Key players, Tabitha Newlin and Ava Parker, demonstrated exceptional serving and defense, contributing to the team’s success. The set tally was 23-25, 26-24, 25-26, and 26-24, a testament to the Colts teamwork and determination.

“Going up against Midway, there is normally a lot of excitement around the game, and I think that the adrenaline got to us in the beginning, resulting in us dropping the first set, but we quickly bounced back once we slowed the game and our offense down,” said starting senior libero Ava Parker.

The action continued on Tuesday as the girls faced the Scotland Scots. This match was another intense battle that went the distance, pushing to five sets. Our players displayed remarkable communication and strategic plays, which helped us secure the victory. The set scores were 25-12, 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, and 15-11, highlighting the girls ability to adapt and overcome challenges on the court.

“I think we could work on communicating on the court, covering, and getting good block touches on hard swings. Although we have certain areas of the game that we need to work on, we do a really good job with being aggressive and celebrating every point, making playing with the girls so much fun,” said sophomore defensive specialist Sadie Adams.

Then, on Thursday, they squared off against the Lumberton Pirates. This time, the team came out strong and dominated the match, winning in just three sets. The serves were on point, as blocking and serve receive remained exceptional, allowing them to control the game. The final set tallys were, 25-22, 25-17, and 25-12, marking another successful outing for our team.

With these victories, the team is now on a four-game winning streak, bringing the conference record to 4-1. The hard work and dedication of our players is truly paying off. Looking ahead, the team is excited to take on the Purnell Swett Rams next Tuesday and the Grays Creek Bears on Thursday. With momentum building, they are ready to face these challenges head-on and continue the winning streak.
