The JV Colts had a very successful season with a final record of 12-3, which was a huge improvement from the previous season’s record of 5-4-2.

The Colts had a rough start, but despite the three early losses, they finished with a 9 game win streak. This was a very impressive season for the JV Colts, and to top it all off they finished 8-1 in conference play.

The highlight of their season was without a doubt beating Lumberton away after they had taken a loss from them early into the season at home.

The top three goal scorers for the Colts were Freshman Kyle Horne with 34, Freshman Ibrahim Yasana with 10, and Freshman Andres Cuenca with 5.

The top three assist leaders were Sophomore Cameron Hall with 5, Freshman Andres Cuenca and Sophomore Brant Freeman each finished with 4.

Overall the Colts had a great season and hope to replicate this next year.

The Varsity team also had a great season, making history by winning the regular season conference for the first time in school history. The Colts went undefeated in the conference with a 10-0 record. They secured a first round bye in the state playoffs as they earned the number 6 seed.

The Colts’ top three goal scorers included team Captain Zack Beal with 11, Senior Francisco Garcia Rodriguez with 7, and Sophomore Gavin Noopon who also had 7 goals.

The top 3 assist leaders for the Colts included Sophomore Gavin Noopon with 7, and Seniors Zack Beard, Nick Serbio, and Cameron Trumbull all with 5.

Cape Fear’s biggest games of the season were when they faced Gray’s Creek twice during conference play. Both games were big matchups with a 2-1 win away at Gray as Sophomore Aiden Hale and Senior Francisco Garcia Rodriguez scored to secure the win. Later in the season the team played Gray’s Creek in Colt Country as team Captain Zack Beal scored to secure a 1-0 win.

Cape Fear had 6 players make all conference teams:

1st team All Conference: Seniors Brady Kenedy, Zack Beal, Francisco Garcia Rodriguez, Ryan Fisher and sophomore Gavin Noopon.

2nd team All Conference: Sophomore Aiden Hale.

Head Coach Bryan Pagan was awarded the Conference Coach of the Year after he coached these boys to a historic season. While this wasn’t Coach Pagan’s first time receiving Conference Coach of the Year, it definitely won’t be his last.

Unfortunately, the Colts were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs with a 2-0 loss to Fuquay-Varina.

Congratulations to both of the Cape Fear Boys Soccer teams as they have had very successful seasons.
