The Cape Fear Girls Basketball team competed in a heavy game against the South View Tigers on January 6th, 2026.
The Colts traveled to Hope Mills to take on the Tigers in a nonconference game. Though the ladies gave it their best shot, they came up short after a tough four quarters of basketball.
The game started with a bang as the Colts scored a total of 8 points, and the Tigers a whopping 19. The girls continued to compete, and ended the second quarter with a total of 18 points, to South View’s 40.
The Colt hoopers struck back after half time with an outstanding three pointer made by Emily Harris to start the third quarter, putting the Colts within 10 points. Sarah Evenson followed Harris up with a pair of free throws in the 4th quarter.
The ladies ended the fourth quarter scoring 5 points, and concluded the game with a total of 36.
The final score found the Colts on the wrong end of the scoreboard, losing 36-69 to the Tigers. Though the outcome of the game was rather underwhelming, the Cape Fear Girls Basketball team continues to show up and show out on the court.
“No matter how our games turn out, I love my team and all the girls on it,” said sophomore forward Shacara Johnes-Spivey.
From aggressive offense to strategic defense, the girls have proved to continuously seek persistence and growth as they journey through their season. The ladies will battle their next opponents at home against Saint Paul’s at 6:00pm Friday evening. You don’t want to miss these athletes in action!
