The Colts Boys Basketball Team won a hard fought game Tuesday against the Scotland Scots beating them 73-60.
The Colts went into Tuesday’s game on a 3 game Losing Streak and missing their leading scorer, making them the underdogs for their match up against the Scots.
Josh Green had a very special showing Tuesday night. He had a season 19 Points along with 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Josh’s performance against the Scots earned him the MaxPreps Player of the Game, which was his first of the new year.
“I was hot from the start; they were leaving me open and I was letting it fly,” said Josh on when he got his rhythm.
Green was able to generate most of his points with his mid-range game and long range scoring which helped the team go on runs throughout the game.
“Definitely on the perimeter, I was hitting a lot of 3’s. I had some layups, but the perimeter mostly,” said Green when asked about where his points came from.
Green’s teammates were a big help in getting him such a big game, helping him get open and getting him the ball when needed.
“My teammates definitely had some good spacing, helping me get open, and giving me the ball when I needed it,” said Green when talking about the help he received against the Scots.
Sophomore Tres Daughtry was definitely one of those teammates, with his valuable minutes off the bench helping the Colts gain a lead.
“Making the right passes and getting my teammates the ball… being able to play some tight defense and getting my teammates the ball to score on fastbreaks,” said Daughtry on his impact coming off the bench.
Tres always is able to give the team a sparke when he’s on the court with his intensity and his playmaking ability for the offense.
Geronimo Sanchez was a force for the defence taking a leader role to keep the defence together. He had a double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds along with some big defensive plays to help the Colts keep their momentum.
The win against Scotland moves the Colts to a 7-11 overall record and an even 2-2 record in Conference play, and with a win against the Lumberton Pirates another Conference rival, they can take the lead in the Tri-County Division, pushing them closer to the title Conference Champs.
