The Cape Fear Softball Team had an awesome 2025 season, and they are only looking to build on last season’s success for the upcoming season.

2025 Conference Finish

The softball team is led by Head Coach Jeff McPhail and Assistant Coach Mack Page, who are going into their 20th season with Cape Fear. Last year they finished the season with a 22-6 overall record and a 12-3 conference record. The Colts finished 3rd in the conference tournament and finished 2nd overall in the conference. 

Playoff Run

The team finished the season going to the 3rd round of playoffs, but ultimately, fell short to Scotland. This year, the team hopes to make it even further in the tournament improving off of last year with a still very talented roster. 

Key Returners

This year features two returning seniors: Karalina Tomasic and Kayleigh Brewington. Returning Juniors include Addison Davis and Kloe Watts, along with sophomores Peyton Eason, McKinley Kolasa and Chloe Bueing. This group of veteran returners expects to have a successful season.

“I’m so excited that I get to spend my last year with the girls I love. I think if we continue our chemistry and strong connection then we will succeed all throughout the season,” said Karalina Tomasic. 

Promising Newcomers 

In addition to our returners, two new players join the team. Sophomore Holli Bunce and Freshman Katherine Bunnels look to make an impact on the already stacked Colts lineup.. 

What does the team need to be successful? 

“We have to bring our A game every night, no bad days,” said Coach McPhail.
