In an unforgettable season of determination, skill, and team spirit, the Cape Fear High School girls bowling team captured the state championship, the first in school history for the girls bowling program. The Colts dominated the competition, putting together one of their best seasons ever and finishing strong when it mattered most.
From the start of the season, the girls showed signs of greatness, posting impressive team scores and battling through tough conference competition. As the season went on, the team’s confidence grew, and by the time they reached the state tournament, they were ready to compete with the best in North Carolina.
At the state finals, the Colts delivered. Leading throughout the event, they finished 73 pins ahead of the runner-up team, Grays Creek, a commanding margin that reflected months of hard work from every bowler on the roster. As frames closed, emotions ran high when they put the pieces together that they had just won. Many of the players said the moment felt unreal, as the moment they have been chasing for just happened.
“Being able to go out there and bowl like we know we can, and show everyone who we are as a team was one of the best moments of the season,” said by Emma Parson.
The state championship not only marked a breakthrough achievement for the bowling program but also brought a sense of pride and celebration to the entire Cape Fear athletics community. Their resilience and commitment paid off in a big way, showing that determination and teamwork can turn dreams into reality.
“Hopefully this state title will encourage more girls to join the team next year when the see what we can do,” said Jenna Fisher
Looking ahead, the Colts hope this championship is just the beginning of a new legacy in girls bowling at Cape Fear High School. With young talent returning and the confidence of a state title under their belts, the future looks bright for this rising program.
