Last lacrosse season, the Colts finished with a record of 6-9 overall and ended up finishing third in the conference with a record of 6-6.
This spring season, the Cape Fear lacrosse team is kicking off the new season with quite a few new players who all have the potential to get better, compete, and contribute to the team.
This season the head coach will still be Tom Donatelle, who has worked hard during the pre-season to prepare all of the new players for the upcoming season.
When asked about his outlook on the season he says, “Our team has been working hard in the offseason to improve themselves for tough competitors both inside and outside the conference.”
With the influx of new players this season, coach Donatelle also says, “This season we welcome several new additions to the team and are excited to see how they will contribute to the team.”
“I’m excited to grow as a team and be able to face better opponents hopefully with better results as we go on,” said senior Will Risenmay..
“I have a lot of friends on the team so I’m really excited to spend time with my friends and have that team-building aspect and I really just want to improve at the sport. I think it’s a really fun game that I think a lot more people should play and I’m just excited to learn.” said Grayson Maille, a sophomore who just joined the team this season.
This season’s first game will be next week Monday, March 2nd. It will be a home game against Gray’s Creek.
“If you have never seen the game of lacrosse take some this spring to take in a home game, you will be glad you did,” encourages head coach Tom.
Be sure to show up and show our lacrosse team some love and support for their first game. Go Colts!!!
